Hello, (((((Huggers)))))
Since we are in a new spot and starting out fresh, along with the fact that we will have new members also joining us, we thought it would be helpful to post some guidelines for posting on the message boards.
We have a lot of different boards that you can post on, and we know it can be overwhelming and even a bit confusing at first, so I’m going to go through and give a brief description of each board and its purpose.
Now, don’t worry about posting on the wrong board.  We aren’t going to come after anyone.  We’re just posting this so everyone knows what each board is for and to help everyone be more comfy posting.   Please check out all of them to see where your post best fits.
So, here we go!

~General Board:  This is where most messages will end up, but it is important to keep this board safe for everyone to view,no matter where we are in our healing, so we keep it as free of triggers as possible.  Anything can be posted here as long as it isn’t a trigger, so if a poem, a joke, some info, happy thoughts, etc. sneak in on the General Board, that’s ok, but it's always better to look for a response on the board that best fits the subject you are posting.

~Depression & Fears Board:  Exactly what the name implies.  This is where we post when we are afraid or depressed.  It is ok to be afraid and have fears, and when we talk about these things, we gain power over them.
~Poetry Place Board:  This is where we share poetry whether it is something we’ve written ourselves or it’s something we found and wanted to share.  It’s important to remember to credit the author when posting and remember to indicate in the subject line if the poem is triggering.

~May Be Triggering Board:  This is where triggering material is posted.  Triggers can be anything from descriptions of ab*se to talk of s**cide or self-harm.  If you are posting something that you think may be triggering to another member, please post it on this board.  If you aren’t sure, it’s best to err on the side of caution and post it on the Trigger Board.  You are also welcome to email any of the managers if you need help.  That’s what we’re here for.

~Releasing Anger Board:  This board is for venting about ab*sers and other things in life that make us angry.  (Please note:  We do NOT lash out at or vent about fellow HUGS members.  The most important goal is to RESPECT one another. No "flaming" or personal attacks.)

~Sharing Our Past Board:  This is the place to share our stories of ab*se.

~The Thoughts for Day Board: is a place to post quotes, inspirational stories, or articles, etc.

~The Funny Page Board:  Here we post quips, jokes, cartoons, stories, and other funny things.  Healing is a difficult journey, and it is important to take the time to laugh and see the lighter side of life.

~Spiritual Paths Board:  This board is for posting religious topics, pictures, pr*yer requests, and any other spiritual things.  Some members have suffered from religious or ritual ab*se, so please keep all religious views and topics on the Spiritual Board.

~Info Board:  The name pretty much says it all.  Anything of an informative nature goes here.  It’s good to have information all in one spot, so it doesn’t get lost on the other boards.

~Holiday Place Board:  Since holidays can be triggering for some members, this is the board where we can freely celebrate the different holidays without fear of triggering others.

~To Our Ab*sers Board:  This board is for writing letters to our ab*sers or sharing letters we’ve written to our ab*sers.  You don’t have to share these letters with your ab*ser.  This is just a tool to help you express yourself.
Please keep in mind that any swear words need to be censored (ex. sh*t).  Also, in the Internet world, all caps is considered yelling.  Some of our members are triggered by this, and no one likes to be yelled at, so please only use all caps if you are venting on one of our trigger boards.

I know this seems like a lot, but it really isn’t.  Don’t be afraid to ask if you have a question.  We are here to help.  You can post a message on the General Board or email anyone on the staff. If a staff member finds a post that we feel needs to be moved, we will do so, and we hope that this doesn’t upset anyone.  It’s no big deal, and it does not mean you’ve done anything bad.

I’d, also, like to take this opportunity to make a suggestion about reading the boards.  There is an option to “view all boards at once.”  If you are not in a good spot or are triggered easily, please don’t use this option.  It shows ALL boards which includes the triggering boards.  We don’t want or expect anyone to read anything that will trigger or upset them.  Our main concern is for the safety and comfort of all of our members.
I hope this information is helpful, and again, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.  We are on this journey together.  You are not alone.

Love and hugs,
~HUGS Staff
